1893. PCGS graded Proof 68 Cameo. Here is a phenomenal superb gem specimen. The absolutely pristine surfaces shimmer with undistributed mirror fields and lightly frosted devices thus the coveted "Cameo" designation. Nevertheless, it is the incredible toning that is sure to draw additional fervor among the connoisseurs of top quality coins. Both the obverse and reverse exhibit a vivid spectrum of colors including hues of aqua blue, lavender and gold. Population of only 2. Tied for Finest graded at PCGS. Estimated Value $18,000 - 20,000

Lot 2111
1893. PCGS graded Proof 67 Cameo. An icy-white Gem in absolutely stunning condition. The obverse fields are semi-satiny, which makes this piece look like the most amazing circulation strike. The reverse is highly reflective and approaches the pinnacle of perfection. To date, PCGS has certified only 8 Proof-67 Cameos, plus only two finer (both in PR-68 Cameo). While this one won't go cheap, it won't approach the "cost-of-a-house" price required for a 68 Cameo! Estimated Value $16,000 - 18,000

1907. NGC graded MS-68. An incredibly frosty example, with drifts of snowy luster creating a winterland of crystalline white color on both sides. Considering how this coin was made, it is a miracle it has survived in such an extraordinary condition. Unlike Proof coins, these were made for circulation using a "quantity, not quality" method. As soon as the coins were struck, they fell into a bag or hopper, clanging neighbor against neighbor, imparting dings and milling marks to each other. Even having avoided these tribulations, this coin started out special, as one rarely sees Mint State Barber Quarters with the depth of luster seen here. It is truly a breath-taking coin and the finest example yet available of this date. NGC has graded only this coin in MS-68 -- PCGS has graded none. Neither service has graded anything finer. Estimated Value $6,000 - 9,000
